EquiLend Cyber Security Incident
This is the dedicated webpage for information relating to a cybersecurity incident that temporarily impacted some EquiLend services in late January and early February 2024. All EquiLend services are now available, and many of our clients have reconnected and are active on the platform. We have implemented a number of hardening measures with our third-party cybersecurity partners, including CrowdStrike. We will continue to provide updates to our clients as appropriate.

Recent events have been unprecedented for EquiLend in our 23-year history. The cybersecurity incident in late January temporarily challenged our ability to deliver our full suite of solutions; however, we have and will continue to do anything and everything in our power to protect our clients.
Since then, the entire global EquiLend team has been working 24/7 alongside third-party cybersecurity experts, regulators and law enforcement agencies to restore our services to full capacity, creating a more secure and resilient ecosystem than ever before. We’ve been truly overwhelmed with the support we have received from clients to once again be able to offer our complete solutions.

We have continued investigating and addressing a recent ransomware incident impacting the functionality of portions of our platforms and certain services. By way of an update on our path to recovery, we have made significant progress and at this time, and NGT is now live and seeing trading activity.
We continue working on our systematic recovery plan to bring the rest of our services back online imminently.
As a reminder, all EquiLend Spire components and the ECS Loan Market were not impacted by the ransomware incident and remain fully operational. Our Orbisa system was also not impacted by this incident, but updated data is not currently available.

Our team of internal and third-party experts continue working nonstop on restoration efforts, and we have made significant progress. We are reaching out to our clients directly with updates on our path to recovery to help them plan and anticipate next steps. We remain fully dedicated to ensuring our clients regain full functionality to any impacted services as quickly as possible, and supporting them through this process.
The security of our systems remains a top priority, and we are continuing to work with third-party cybersecurity experts to build upon our robust security protocols.

Since our last update, we have continued working closely with third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate this incident and restore our systems. Law enforcement has been notified as well.
While the investigation will take time, it has so far determined this incident was the result of ransomware.
At this time, the following services continue to be temporarily unavailable:

All EquiLend Spire components and the ECS Loan Market were not impacted by the ransomware incident and remain fully operational.
Ensuring our customers regain full functionality to any impacted services as quickly and safely as possible remains a top priority, and while the restoration process and our investigation will take time, we are committed to sharing pertinent updates as they become available.
We continue rigorously responding to this incident, and cybersecurity will remain an ongoing commitment. We will continue working closely with third-party experts to build upon our robust security protocols and emerge as an even more secure organization. January 24, 2024
On January 22, 2024, EquiLend identified a technical issue that placed portions of our systems offline. We immediately launched an investigation and have identified a cyber security incident involving unauthorized access to our systems. We took immediate steps to secure our systems and are working methodically to restore the involved services as quickly as possible.
We are working with external cybersecurity firms and other professional advisers to assist with our investigation and restoration of service. Clients have been advised that this may take several days.
